status line text missing in second graphics window

Description

Nadia found that in certain plots in the second graphics window, the status line text would go to the terminal instead of the to the GUI. 

imexamine dev$pix

[open a plot by mousing over a position in ds9 and typing 'l']

[open a second graphics window from the plot's 'Window->New' menu]

[go back to ds9, mouse over a location, and type 'r' for radial plot]

I saw this on OSX. I also confirmed that this occurs with the Tkinter kernel as well as with the matplotlib kernel.
